Here we are in Newcastle, just about to take the stage at the Lass O’Gowrie. Tis a charming little room that reminds us of past exploits at the Dog House in Hobart and the long since demolished Lone Star in Perth (which, incidently is where karl and i first ever played on the same stage.. Even though we were in different bands). Anyway, the friendly Newcastle vibe continues and i was very glad for my ‘tiger’ pie at Harry’s Cafe de Wheels this arvo. I reckon i’d almost drive all the way here once a year for my fix.. A pie with potato mash, peas and gravy. Don’t knock it til you’ve tried it.. Could be the best aussie meal ever in my book. Taking the concept of the ‘pie and sauce’ to the world might actually be my calling when i make my millions. Sure beats soggy sandwiches or shadey burger deals.
We got up at 5am this morning to watch Harry Kewell help get the Socceroos scrape through to the next round of the world cup. Since getting up in the middle of the night to do the same thing when we were up in Brisbane last week i’m starting to feel positively jet jagged. While we keep progressing i have no cause for complaint however.
Well, tomorrow is gonna be fun to be back in Sydney town. Should be able to squeeze in another tiger for brunch though :-)
