Today we embark on the second interstate leg of the tour. I managed to wangle the day off work, but no such luck for karl so i picked him up in the city at 1 and then it was straight into the drive. Melbourne’s impossibly long run of perfect spring weather had to expire eventually, and today was it. So it’s heavy grey clouds that usher us up the Hume Highway towards Sydney town this afternoon. The hectic start was accompanied by Cold Chisel on the stereo. I always forget about the ‘compilations’ bit on my iPod, so it was fun to stumble across some amusing best ofs. More recently tho we have settled into the smoothing tones of Danien Jurado and presently Hope Sandoval.
We don’t know where we’re gonna stop tonight yet. Matt and Meg are flying up tomorrow and we’ll meet them at the airport before we have to do a radio interview and soundcheck and stuff. But we don’t want to hit Sydney too early cause we’ll have no where to go and nothing to do. It’s kinda refreshing to feel free of a schedule for a night. In a weird way… We’re still driving 900kms for a show tomorrow so we’re hardly footloose and fancy free!
Anyway, Albury is upon us and the car she is a thirsty. Adios. pc
