grand rapids
Monday April 12 2004
well, we are here in our adopted home of grand rapids and feeling very relaxed. the difficulties of the previous week have all but fallen away and we’re feeling like we can head out again. it’s been so nice to be in the same place for more than one night. the show last night went really well and we met a lot of wonderful people before ending up at z’s bar and restaurant for the second time in two days. we went to see the fish ladder and sat there transfixed by the giant tree stump turning round in the spray while the those salmon, who weren’t smart enough to utilize the purpose built ladder, threw themselves with all their might against the wall only to slide back down, broken and defeated… then yesterday it was time for yesterdog. the messiest chilli dogs i’ve ever come across and my jacket i think will do everything in it’s power to keep me from going back there a second time. all in all it has been a grand old time and will be sad to leave. it’s back on the highway toward indianoplis tomorrow. we’ll see what lies in store for us. k
