After a couple of days of mild chaos surrounding the van drama, we are back in ‘la piscina’ (ie ‘the swimming pool’… The nickname given to this van by a friend’s little daughter, owing to its colour). The recent shows have been all good, in different ways, and last night perhaps the best for me thus far. I still haven’t been able to get my gear running right since the robbery, but last night things came together. We had a big night in Florence, and then stayed in an apartment literally metres from Ponte Vecchio, which was very cool.
We ate very well last night.. First was Tortelli di Zucca which are like giant ravioli filled with pumpkin. I then had Coniglio alla Caccitora in memory of my grandfather, who would have been proud, and karl had donkey stew with polenta, which tasted better than it sounds.
Our main agents in Europe - Locusta - just won best agency of the year in Italy, so the boys are off to take their prize tonight. We have our friend Tiziano (of Fooltribe, who recorded and released our live album, and he plays these days under the name Bob Corn) driving us, through the fog, and to Roveretto for the show tonight. It’s a venue we’ve played a couple of times before, and the people are super cool, and the food is always incredible. So it should be a good night.
